English Translation:
In ancient times, ten suns appeared in the sky. The earth was scorched until nothing could grow, and the people suffered terribly. Houyi took up his divine bow and shot down nine suns. He left only one sun to shine upon the earth. From then on, the earth regained its vitality and the people lived in peace.
