English Translation:
One day, a clam opened its shell to sunbathe on the beach. A snipe stuck its beak in to peck at the clam's flesh. The clam quickly closed its shell and clamped down on the snipe's beak. The snipe said: "If it doesn't rain today or tomorrow, you'll dry up and die." The clam replied: "If I don't let go today or tomorrow, you'll starve to death." Neither would give in. Just then, a fisherman came along and caught them both.
