English Translation:
In ancient times, a man wanted to steal his neighbor's bell. He knew the bell would ring when touched, and people would come catch him. He thought: "If I cover my own ears, I won't hear the ringing." So he covered his ears and reached for the bell. The bell rang, and his neighbor immediately came out and caught him. He asked in surprise: "I clearly covered my ears, how could you still hear it?"
